I heard they found a cure for coronavirus. Is that true?

April 3, 2020

A recent news article reported that a doctor had found the cure for coronavirus.

According to the head Sheba Medical Center’s pharmacology unit, Prof. Ronen Loebstein:

“There is no earth-shattering news here. Dr. Zelenko, the physician in the article, provided treatment with a drug combination of Hydroxychloroquine + Azithromycin which is a recognized combination being used also here at Sheba, and in fact the world over, despite the absence of any solid evidence that it actually helps Corona patients.

To this drug combination, he adds vitamin C and other supplements, the efficacy of which have not been proven. In general, one should be wary of publications of an unclear nature, that do not include a control group, and it is unclear who the patients were (maybe he treated a group of young people without related illnesses who would probably have recovered without treatment). To summarize: There is no real news here”.
