A basketball game is tense but this time, the record was broken! In the middle of a Sheba staff league game Gregory Yakubov, a Transport Specialist, suffered a heart attack and collapsed. Luckily, his teammate who was on the court next to him was Prof. Roy Beagle, Director of the Cardiology Department at Sheba. Gregory recounted: “By the time the ambulance arrived, he [Beagle] performed CPR on me with the help of a defibrillator. He gave me back my breath. If he had not been there I would have died for sure.” Chen Peretz, the team’s Manager and Coach, added: “Gregory has been playing with us since the team was formed 25 years ago! Roy joined 18 years ago and luckily it happened when Roy was with him on the court. It was clear to me that he would save him.” Prof. Roy Beagle wants to emphasize: “I am glad that I was able to be there and help at the right moment, the importance of the defibrillator device can not be underestimated. It is important to increase people’s awareness of the issue and use of this device. Every residential building should have one because it simply saves lives! “
