Prime Minister of Albania Makes Historic Visit to Sheba Medical Center

April 11, 2025

The culmination of a fast-developing relationship between Sheba Medical Center and the Ministry of Health in Albania took place recently, when the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, made an historic visit to Sheba Medical Center.

Albania is currently undergoing a transformation of its healthcare system and is working with Sheba Medical Center to implement innovative cancer care solutions. Rama’s visit highlights the strength of international collaborations in the field of healthcare and the commitment of both nations to building a future in which medical innovation drives economic growth and enhances global quality of life.

The collaboration between Sheba and Albania focuses on groundbreaking medical innovation, combining clinical excellence with advanced technologies and artificial intelligence—fields in which Sheba is recognized as a global leader. Among the models presented to the Albanian Prime Minister were the CARE Control Center, a cutting-edge, AI-powered operations center enabling real-time optimal care management, and Project K, a ground-breaking AI-solution, developed and operating within Sheba’s Emergency Room area.

“Albania is the Jewish people’s second home,” said Prime Minister Edi (Edvin) Rama at the conclusion of his visit to Sheba Medical Center. “The partnership we have established in the field of healthcare will not only improve medicine in Albania but also serve as a model for how health and universal human values can forge meaningful connections between nations.”

Prof. Yitshak Kreiss, Director General of Sheba Medical Center: “A strong healthcare system is the cornerstone of social resilience, economic growth, and both national and international prosperity. The strategic collaboration with Albania is part of a broader vision — to strengthen global partnerships through advanced medicine and to build a future in which health serves as a driver of economic development and a catalyst for societal transformation.”

PM Rama has expressed his steadfast support for the State of Israel on multiple occasions since Oct. 7 and even addressed the UN General Assembly calling for the return of the hostages while wearing a pin with their symbol.
