The inaugural “Divas of Sheba” Women’s Mission to Israel took place from May 30 – June 5, 2019, bringing 21 women from across North America to Israel to explore, learn about and support Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer. An undeniable success, the mission included highlights such as exclusive briefings from Sheba doctors, tours of the Tel Aviv food scene and Sheba’s annual garden gala.
Within two months of Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer in Israel being named as one of the world’s top ten hospitals by Newsweek Magazine, an inaugural women’s mission to visit the hospital in Israel took place from May 30 – June 5, 2019.
During the maiden “Divas of Sheba” Women’s Mission to Israel, 21 participants from across North America were granted coveted and direct access to some of Sheba’s top physicians and researchers, both in personal settings and in respected lecture halls.
Sheba doctors shared the latest advances in cardiology, cancer treatments, fertility, mental health, gastroenterology, neonatology, neuroscience, gynecology, oncology, nutrition, endocrinology, oncology immunology therapy, urology, hydrotherapy and beyond, and participants had the unique opportunity to ask any and all questions.
“On the Divas of Sheba mission, we were able to rub elbows with some of the world’s most visionary physicians and medical researchers,” said Dr. Rebecca Bodok from Toronto. “It was an empowering experience to explore Sheba Medical Center and journey through Israel with like-minded women who care about the future of medical innovation and want to contribute to Sheba’s success.”
Off Sheba’s campus, the Divas of Sheba socialized with the female physicians who traveled with the group through the grottoes of Rosh HaNikra, the alleyways of Neve Tzedek, a Druze village, kibbutz tours and the Carmel market. Together with more than 1,100 other Sheba supporters, the mission participants celebrated Sheba’s recognition by Newsweek Magazine at a beautiful garden gala.
“This inspiring trip brought smart, curious women together to experience in person just how cutting-edge and compassionate Sheba Medical Center is,” said Friends of Sheba Medical Center, Tel HaShomer Executive Director Molly Soboroff, who is based in Los Angeles. “We spent hours with doctors and researchers picking their brains about what they are working on, and learning how Sheba is truly advancing medical breakthroughs that will have profound impact worldwide.”
The first women’s mission to Sheba successfully concluded with the Divas of Sheba returning home as knowledgeable and passionate ambassadors of Sheba’s visionary achievements and plans for the future.
